MSA just announced the release of the General Monitors FL500 ultraviolet/infrared (UV/IR) flame detector by MSA. The new FL500 flame detector offers high speed flame detection in a compact design with the following distinguishing features:
- Three LED indicators for alarm, fault and normal operating conditions
- Six fuel sources FM performance approved - butane, ethane, heptane, methane, methanol and propane
- Field of view up to 130°
- Response times < 3 seconds
- Rugged stainless steel housing – standard
- 4-20 mA sink or source communication
The FL500 also retains key features of our previous generation flame detectors including:
- Self-Check through the COPM (Continuous Optical Path Monitoring) self-test which verifies the optical path integrity (window cleanliness) and the detector’s electronic circuitry every two minutes.
- The ability to safely test with our exclusive TL105 test lamp which simulates the flickering of a fire without the associated risk of an open flame.
- HART, Modbus communication
- Global approvals – FM, CSA, ATEX, IECEx, CE Marking
